There is nothing more soothing and mystifying than gazing at a crop of amethyst's radiant colors. It is a perfect meditation stone bringing you calmness, tranquility, and grounding. It has been one of the most prominent crystals for ages. The Greeks called the wine stained stone "amethystos" which translates to "not intoxicated." The Buddhists made prayer beads out of it and in the Middle Ages regalia were decorated with it's royal color. Amethyst colors can range from a very pale lilac to a deep reddish purple with them being semi translucent to fully transparent. It is the official birthstone of February.
